The 92-Year-Old Man Who Gives Disabled Animals a New Lease on Life
Going Above and Beyond for Our Furry Friends
Meet Lincoln Parkes, a 92-year-old veterinarian who has dedicated over 60 years of his life to making a difference in the lives of disabled animals. Even in his retirement, Dr. Parkes continues to make an impact by designing custom wheelchairs for our beloved pets.
A Lifelong Passion
Dr. Parkes’ journey began when he encountered a man whose dog had lost the use of its legs due to an accident. Determined to help, he designed a K-9 cart specifically tailored to the dog’s needs, giving the dog a newfound ability to move again. This success inspired him to take it further.
In the early 1960s, Dr. Parkes established a wheelchair center, crafting carts for dogs who could not walk. What started as a side hobby quickly turned into a lifelong passion, as he witnessed firsthand the transformative power of these special wheelchairs.
For Dr. Parkes, there is no greater joy than seeing a furry friend light up with excitement upon receiving their custom wheelchair. These wheelchairs provide animals with a renewed sense of freedom, allowing them to utilize their front legs and regain their energy. They become like toddlers taking their first steps, filled with boundless happiness.
Dedication and Determination
Despite his ripe age of 92, Dr. Parkes continues to selflessly dedicate his time to building wheelchairs for those in need. He spends long hours meticulously constructing each cart, ensuring it meets the specific requirements of every individual furry patient. His unwavering commitment is truly remarkable.
