The publication ‘Glamour’ has named its ‘2023 Woman of the Year’ award winners and some popped are surprised at one particular inclusion in the list. Phillipino model Geena Rocero was named as one of the seven winners of the award last week as Glamour published its list on their website.
Rocero, who is revealed to be a biological male who transition to female, had her story shared in a write-up posted by Glamour that included how she got her start in the female modeling world. A mentor and older draw queen, named Tigerlily Garcia Temporosa, took Rocero in and gave the model a chance to find the fame that is now being celebrated in the article.
Temporosa said of Rocero at the time, “At 15 years old she took the highest titles here in the national pageant. I [was] so proud and so happy. A lot of good transgender [competitors] wanted me to handle them, at that time, with Geena rising as a promising star.”
Comical Twitter account Clown World shared a hilarious Tweet in which it encapsulated the bizarre circumstance with which we are faced, saying, “Glamour Magazine’s Woman of the Year is a biological male.”
And that is exactly how the award went. Among all of the women in the world, one of the very best out of them all, according to Glamour, is a biological male. That irony is not being lost on many people.
Rocero also made waves, as the article claims, by creating her own organization named, Gender Proud, a company focused on provided outlets for LGBT folks who wish to tell their story. This organization hopes to building on the progress that she made from a Ted Talk that she made nine years ago.
