Recently, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (D-NY) asserted that there is supposedly a “risk in not seizing” former President Trump’s assets in relation to the New York civil fraud case. AOC outlined that by not confiscating the GOP frontrunner’s assets, Trump could have the financial flexibility to pursue political endeavors.
Fox News legal analyst Greg Jarret criticized the liberal congresswoman’s comments, labeling them “just plain ignorant.” Jarret asserted that AOC truly has “no idea” what she is speaking about, citing comments she made last week during the congressional testimony of Tony Bobulinski, a former business partner of Hunter Biden, where she insisted that RICO is not actually a crime.
“I have no idea what she was saying. … I don’t really think she does. You know, trying to make sense of anything AOC says is sort of a favorite Washington parlor game. She has this uncanny ability to talk incessantly, while saying absolutely nothing,” Jarret said.
“And that is because she is hopelessly uninformed, terminally obtuse, and I think just plain ignorant. This is the same person a week ago who said RICO or racketeering is not a crime. No sane person takes AOC seriously, which I suppose is why she’s always featured on CNN,” he added.
Trump faced a deadline on Monday to pay the original $454 million fine resulting from the civil fraud case, or else the state of New York would have grounds to begin seizing properties from Trump’s vast real estate portfolio before he appeals the ruling. However, on Monday a state appellate court ruled to drop the bond down to $175 million, which he would be required to pay in 10 days.
In February, New York Judge Arthur Engoron ruled that Trump had committed fraud by overvaluing his real estate assets and net worth to obtain favorable terms in bank loans and more. Engoron ordered a fine of approximately $354 million plus interest, where the penalty had accumulated to roughly $454 million. Watch Fox News’ assessment of AOC’s comments below:
The former president has been highly vocal on his opinions regarding the civil fraud case. In a recent post on Truth Social, he slammed the “ridiculous” case against him along with “corrupt” Judge Engoron’s valuation of his Mar-a-Lago property. He further asserted that the likes of James and Engoron are “destroying America.”
“Don’t Like the way FoxNews is reporting the Letitia James Election Interference Scam. They don’t want to discuss how ridiculous the Corrupt Judge’s fine of 450 Million Dollars is. It should be $ZERO. The only fraud was the valuation of Mar-a-Lago at $18,000,000 by the Crooked Judge in order to help his already fully debunked narrative. They should pay me damages for what they have done, and ultimately will. THESE ARE NOT THE PEOPLE THAT MADE AMERICA GREAT, THESE ARE THE PEOPLE THAT ARE DESTROYING AMERICA!”
In an another post, Trump sounded off on James and Engoron for what the former president describes as politicized corruption. The Republican presidential candidate maintained his innocence while ultimately claiming the case against him amounts to “election interference.”
“Why should a Crooked, highly political New York Judge, Arthur Engoron, working in concert and coordination with an even more Corrupt Attorney General, Letitia “Peekaboo” James, his Puppet Master, and the White House, be allowed to take away, and sell off, very successful properties and assets that took me years to zone, build and nurture into some of the best of their kind anywhere in the World – WHEN I HAVE DONE NOTHING WRONG! These Radical Left Lunatics and Communists ask me to pay a ridiculous and completely unheard of fine of over $450,000,000 only because they saw a similar amount in my bank account. I had intended to use much of that hard earned money on running for President. They don’t want me to do that — ELECTION INTERFERENCE!”
