If, like me, you’re unfamiliar with the jabuticabeira tree, which is native to Brazil, there’s every chance you’ll be equally taken back by its appearance.
If you ask me, there’s something very odd about the way the tree – also called the Brazilian Grape Tree – bears its fruit. The jabuticaba fruit, a purplish-black in color, grows directly on the trunk, and so it almost makes it look like the tree is being swarmed by some sort of alien insect.
