Liam Payne, a former member of the boy band One Direction, passed away at the age of 31 after falling from the balcony of a hotel apartment located on the third floor in Buenos Aires.

The awful news was confirmed by the state police in Argentina late last night. According to sources, the celebrity had fallen into the courtyard of the CasaSur Hotel, which is located in the Palermo region of the capital city of Argentina.

Later on, the city ambulance service provider, Alberto Crescenti, issued a statement in which he disclosed that Payne had fallen around 40 meters (131 feet) and sustained “severe injuries that were incompatible with life.”

“The alarm was raised at 5.04 p.m. local time, stating that a person was lying in an internal patio at Casa Sur,” Crescenti said. “The notification was received.”

At 5:11 o’clock in the evening, an ambulance arrived, and the man was pronounced dead.

After some time had passed, we learned that he had been a well-known vocalist. Unfortunately, the injuries he had sustained as a result of the accident turned out to be devastating enough to take his life. He could not be brought back to life under any circumstances.

On September 30, the musician and his girlfriend Kate Cassidy reportedly arrived in Argentina. This information comes from TMZ Magazine. Payne and Cassidy were both present at a concert that was held in the country earlier this month by Niall Horan, who was a former bandmate of those two.

It was reported by TMZ that Cassidy left Argentina on October 14, which was two days before to the passing of her partner. Liam subsequently checked into the CasaSur Palermo hotel. According to recent accounts, Payne had been acting in an erratic manner on the day of his death. Additionally, another visitor had called 911 to report a person who was acting in a “aggressive” manner in the lobby of the hotel.

Payne, who was 31 years old at the time of his death, was active on Snapchat just hours before his death was revealed, according to Sky News, which is now revealing additional facts about his final days.

 

It was on October 16 that Payne uploaded a photo to Snapchat that he shared with his girlfriend, as reported by E! News. The duo was observed taking a photo in front of a mirror while they were wearing their bikinis.

Liam smiled for the camera in the picture in question as he was dressed in a pair of black swim trunks and a white baseball cap that was turned upside down. Kate sported a black bikini, a braided visor, and black sunglasses for her swimwear ensemble.

It has been alleged that the photo was uploaded to Snapchat on October 16, despite the fact that Kate had already left Argentina two days earlier, as was described above.

It has been well reported over the past several years that Liam has struggled with addiction to both alcohol and prescription drugs. In 2021, the singer himself disclosed that he had experienced “severe” suicide thoughts while he was on tour with One Direction.

A year ago, the musician disclosed that he had successfully completed a rehabilitation program that lasted for one hundred days in Louisiana.

According to statements made by Alberto Crescenti, the investigations into the circumstances surrounding his death are currently underway, and an autopsy will be performed.

At the time of his meteoric rise to popularity as a member of One Direction, the band that became famous all over the world after forming on The X Factor in 2010, Payne was only 16 years old.
