Breaking News: Mexican National Charged for Attempted Bribery of US Border Patrol Agent

A Mexican citizen, Samuel Mendoza-Torres, 29, is facing charges for attempting to bribe a U.S. Border Patrol agent after being arrested for illegally entering the U.S. on February 8, 2025. Mendoza-Torres offered $400 to the agent to avoid jail, admitting his involvement in helping illegal immigrants cross the border. He could face up to 20 years in prison if convicted. His case is under investigation by the U.S. Border Patrol and FBI.

In separate cases, Kevin Dominguez from Katy, Texas, was sentenced to 18 months for assaulting a Border Patrol agent during an attempted escape, while four individuals were arrested in El Paso for their involvement in a human smuggling ring. Another case involves Melvin Armando Funes-Canales, a Honduran citizen with a criminal history, arrested for illegal re-entry into the U.S. after being deported multiple times. Each faces significant prison time if found guilty.
