Trump Border Czar Promises Quick Action On Immigration, Illegal Migrants

Tom Homan, a veteran Homeland Security official who has been appointed “border czar” by President-elect Donald Trump, said during a weekend interview he and the 47th commander-in-chief plan to hit the ground running on the issues of enhancing security and deporting those in the country illegally.

“Look, we’re not waiting. I’ve already been to the border several times, met with Gov. [Greg] Abbott; I met with the National Sheriffs’ Association, what they can do for us,” Homan began.
I’ve talked to the foreign minister of Canada, and I’ve been out to Arizona talking to the of sheriffs out there. So we’re not waiting for January 20th. We’re going to try to secure the border as quick as we can, and we’ve already started working on those plans,” he continued.

Host David Asman then noted: “Now, you may have gotten the attention of our neighbors north and south, but you still haven’t gotten the full attention of a lot of the sanctuary cities and states in the United States. We just had a recent example of it with The Bronx — excuse me, the Brooklyn DA not dealing with the detaining order from [Immigration and Customs Enforcement] for this horrific crime that took place last Sunday where a woman was burnt to death by, allegedly by an illegal alien who’s now the suspect in the case. ICE put a detainer on him, and it wasn’t accepted by the Brooklyn DA. What’s going on with that?”

“I had a meeting with[New York City] Mayor [Eric] Adams a few weeks ago. He said he wants to work with us on public safety threats,” Homan responded. “He’s committed to doing that. He’s also willing to help us find over 300,000 missing children, many are in New York City.

“But you know, he was very honest when he was saying he’s got a city council he needs to deal with, and he’s going to do what he can through executive order,” Homan added. “But I’m hoping he’s a man of his word and he’s going to push for the actions that we discussed that day. Any elected official, even a district attorney, anybody in that city, you should want to remove public safety threats from your communities.”
